done from pictures reference from the museum quality wood ship model, Ingermanland.
I did it blocking the major shapes of the ship, and then building the individual pieces and adjusting it to the place holder i did earlier for scaling the pieces to match the pictures. the different pieces of geormetry were done within the ship file, or imported from separate files i did, like the canons for example, that were added at the end, on top of the canon placeholders, for an easy position and scale of the hi res ones, inside the ship model.
